Digital Workplace Group MD Angela Pohl to speak at Social Intranets conference in Washington, DC
22 March 2013, New York, NY.
With “socializing the intranet” a current goal for many organizations, those in charge of leading this sometimes challenging process are often eager to learn from others who have already taken the plunge. Handled correctly, a more socially interactive intranet can dramatically increase employee engagement and successfully impact business results.
The Digital Workplace Group (DWG), part of the Digital Workplace Group (DWG), recognized the importance of this trend a while back and has been at the forefront of developing resources and expertise on the subject. Last month DWG’s Nancy Goebel delivered a keynote talk at “The Value of Social: Improving Collaboration & Engagement on Your Intranet”, while DWG’s Research and Knowledge Lead, Steve Bynghall and Goebel also partnered with IBM in a recent webcast on the latest trends in social intranets.
Now, drawing on a recent research paper published exclusively for DWG members, “Social intranets in action: 21 great examples of social intranets”, Angela Pohl, Managing Director of DWG, is to speak on the subject at the Advanced Learning Institute’s “Social Intranets” conference, which will take place from 8–11 April 2013 in Washington, DC. During her talk, she will share some of the innovative and successful adoptions of social tools showcased in the research report.
Pohl explains: “Intranets are becoming increasingly participatory and social. They are also delivering value in many different ways. In a whistle-stop tour we’ll see 21 great social intranets in action, followed by some observations from the Digital Workplace Group about how social intranets have evolved and the sort of interventions that make them effective.”
With the full title “Social Intranets: How to integrate the latest social media tools and technologies to foster collaboration, increase engagement & drive business results”, the Washington conference will offer practical, real-world advice on how to turn the intranet into a social destination where employees can connect, collaborate and create their own content.
Coming up in May 2013 there will be plenty more discussion and knowledge-sharing around best practices for social intranets during DWG’s major online 24-hour event, Digital Workplace 24, which will take place on 14–15 May 2013.
