Celebrating brilliant digital workplace teams – a new award from DWG!
This year’s Digital Workplace of the Year Awards open in just under a week, on April 3, 2023. The awards, produced by Digital Workplace Group (DWG), celebrate those organizations and practitioners who have excelled in creating well-executed, high-performing digital workplace environments.
Since its launch seven years ago, DWG’s Digital Workplace Leader of the Year award has given everyone in our industry the opportunity to celebrate the passionate individuals leading digital workplaces inside organizations. It has been a celebration of the trailblazing, tenacious and energetic pioneers of our industry. Now, in 2023, the celebration is about to get even bigger!
From the very first winner in 2017, Kevin Cassady, now Global Head Digital Workplace at TD, right through to the latest winner, Kristy Litchford, VP Digital Workplace & Corporate Solutions at Campbell Soup Company, the industry has collectively had its breath taken away by the many leaders pioneering inside organizations to deliver exceptional digital experiences to employees.
What winning digital workplace leaders look like
In a free to download report, Celebrating the best digital workplaces, published last year, we analysed seven qualities and approaches that make these leaders great:
- Pioneering visionary strategies
- Influencing across the organization
- Championing the digital workplace
- Sharing knowledge and expertise
- Understanding employees deeply
- Making things happen
- Building high-performing teams.
If we zoom in on #7, we see that these leaders are adept at bringing together the right talent and fostering it to ensure that individuals can develop and flourish. While facilitating a creative space in which people can do their best work, they hold themselves and the team to account through a data-driven approach. We often hear from team members just how inspired, engaged and motivated they are by these leaders; they feel heard and have a clear understanding of the strategic direction.
Behind every great leader is a brilliant team
When receiving their awards, these trailblazing leaders are invariably humble, never failing to acknowledge the brilliant teams that make their success possible. They typically describe the individuals who make up these teams as: dedicated, passionate, hard-working, collaborative, creative – and more!

So, we decided to make a change to the award: to celebrate the whole team including the leader. We’re completely thrilled to announce for 2023, the Digital Workplace Team of the Year award.
A new award for 2023
DWG’s Digital Workplace Team of the Year award will recognize the outstanding teams in our industry that pioneer the digital workplace through exceptional teamwork and leadership, innovative and engaging approaches, and standout achievements and impact.
Criteria for entering teams will include:
- strategy and goals
- teamwork and leadership
- engagement and change
- innovation and learning
- achievements and impact.
As well as the overall Digital Workplace Team of the Year award, teams will have multiple opportunities to win in category awards. A win in the awards signifies not only industry recognition for the individuals and organization involved, but also the opportunity to raise the team’s profile within the organization by weaving industry recognition into team impact communications. Lastly, we know that award entrants over the years have used the entry process to learn and grow as a team – in this case, it will require valuable reflection and insight on what it takes to build a high-performing team.
DWG’s Awards Chair and Director of Research, Elizabeth Marsh, commented: ‘The DWG team has been bubbling over with excitement about this new addition to our awards programme!
