“In the past you might have just migrated everything that you had, but now it’s a question of what your user actually needs to find and helping them to do that in the most efficient way possible, so they get less frustrated with your intranet.”

- Nicole Carter, DWG

When done well, content migration provides a strong foundation on which to build a successful intranet, with the best user experience and longevity. Unfortunately though, a commonly held opinion is that migration of intranet content to a new platform is considered a chore and many migration projects cut corners, either through lack of resources, knowledge or the will to grapple with unwieldy, numerous and outdated pieces of content.

Nicole Carter, consultant and researcher at DWG, and Allan Tanner, Senior Manager, Digital Communications at Standard Life Aberdeen, join Paul Miller to discuss DWG’s report “The eight phases of intranet content migration: How to make the move”.

Follow the conversation as the trio explore the report, which outlines a model workflow for how to deliver intranet content migration in a project over eight phases and how to avoid unintended consequences further down the project timeline.
