Yammer Highlights Business Collaboration Beyond the Firewall
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwire) — 06/21/11 — Yammer, Inc. : , the leading enterprise social network, today featured some of the key ways customers are using its Communities product since the rollout in March last year to create secure groups for external collaboration. Traditionally, company intranets have precluded communication with important business contacts outside the company firewall such as business partners, customers, supply chain partners and consultants. Because Yammer is hosted in the cloud, users can create separate networks to collaborate with these important external groups, which are partitioned off from the company’s own internal Yammer network and remain under the supervision of the company administrator.
Molson-Coors Taps the Knowledge of its Retirees
Molson Coors, a leading global brewer with a brewing heritage of more than 350 years, has an extensive network of current and former employees who are passionate about the brand. The Canadian business unit established a Yammer Community for its retirees in an effort to maintain a strong connection with its alumni network, providing them with the latest news and information about the company. With high-level executive participation, the Community is also used to share and socialize external messaging, introduce new products, plan gatherings such as barbecues and seek feedback about how to make the company better. As a result, Molson Coors has been able to leverage members of the network as external brand ambassadors.
“With a company legacy such as ours, we value our alumni network deeply,” said Sebastien Charbonneau, director employee communications, Molson Coors Canada. “We’ve been able to maintain an incredibly strong bond with our retiree community by opening up a forum for both past and present employees on Yammer.”
Razorfish Account Teams Collaborate with Clients
Razorfish, a leading digital marketing agency, works predominantly in account teams, servicing global clients. Several Razorfish teams have created Yammer communities to foster improved real-time collaboration and idea sharing with clients. In between in-person meetings, Razorfish account teams are able to do informal check-ins with their clients to help drive campaign continuity, ask questions, and track success.
“Maintaining excellent client relationships is the foundation of our business,” said Tobias Klauder, vice president of Global IT at Razorfish. “By fostering improved real-time communication, Yammer Communities strengthen our ability to collaborate with our clients.”
The Digital Workplace Group Communicates with its Membership
The Digital Workplace Group :
“It was clear to us from when we first saw Yammer that it could work as well in any ‘closed access community’ as it did within one single enterprise. Now when members ask questions over the Yammer community we set up in early 2010, it is rewarding to see our membership receive not only prompt but high quality answers from peers in major global organizations as well as IBF experts,” said Paul Miller, founder and CEO of IBF. “The real-time nature of Yammer coupled with the privacy of the network has created a unique and powerful knowledge sharing experience for our membership.”
“When we launched Communities over a year ago, we never could have imagined all the interesting ways our customers are now using the product,” said David Sacks, CEO of Yammer. “Increasingly, we see the future of Enterprise Social Networking as providing both social intranets and extranets for secure business collaboration.”
All members of a Yammer network can create a Community; however, premium network admins may restrict community creation to members with certain privileges. Setting up a Community is as easy as giving it a name and inviting users via email. Communities are listed in a Directory for each company, making them easy for coworkers to discover.
