Winner of Digital Workplace of the Year 2020 – DBS Bank
In the final hour of DWG24 Live, DWG CEO Paul Miller revealed that the winner of Digital Workplace of the Year 2020 is DBS Bank. This followed a 24-hour build-up, during which a number of other entrants to the Awards had been acknowledged with special awards.
The Awards are produced by DWG and celebrate organizations and practitioners that have excelled this year in creating well-executed, high-performing digital workplace environments.
Now in their fourth year, the 2020 Awards attracted an impressive and diverse set of entries from around the world and across different sectors. It was DBS Bank that really stood out from the rest for our judges this year, with high scores right across the criteria, but most especially for user engagement and impressive features. With a strategy that aims to “make work joyful”, this certainly was a unique and eye-catching programme of work – but one that is also founded on well-established governance and a clear rationale.
Presenting the award live on air, Paul commented: “Very many congratulations to Linda and the whole team at DBS for such a comprehensive entry as well as the fantastic aim of making work joyful.”
Integrated user feedback at all stages
The judges are always keen to see user engagement throughout the whole lifecycle of the digital workplace – and they certainly found what they were looking for in the DBS Bank entry! A “4D Framework” helps to ensure that employees are involved at each stage as the team works to discover needs and pain-points, define problems, develop prototypes in an agile manner, and deliver solutions into production. All work is grounded in a set of personas and focuses on developing continuous feedback loops in order to learn together with the employees what works best.
Impressive features that make work easier
The DBS Bank digital workplace has plenty of features that have the “wow” factor and make a real difference to the daily lives of the bank’s workforce. As one judge commented: “Features focus on employee productivity from anywhere they are located and the ability for employees to ideate and contribute to their continuous improvement.”
The OneBot virtual assistant helps staff with admin tasks, drawing on the DBS Knowledge Centre to answer employee questions relating to policies and processes. The IdeaVault enables the organization to crowdsource ideas from employees and has seen over 65 campaigns launched since 2015 with participation from around 80% of the employee base. The DBS digital workplace also helps to foster connections across markets through active Yammer communities, including 50 volunteer groups, and an iThankYou site that has enabled employees to send more than 750,000 messages and rewards to peers.
Making and measuring impact
The judging panel always hope to learn about more than just clicks and hits to understand impact. They were blown away by the impact made by DBS digital workplace, with an impressive Net Promoter Score of +88 for digital tools.
The team have also measured impact in terms of employee satisfaction levels, hitting 90% over the last five consecutive months – “successful efforts that are clearly having a measurable impact on the business’s bottom line”, as one of the judges noted.
