Decade of Courage Manifesto. Season 2
Following the publication of the first Decade of Courage Manifesto, Decade of Courage Manifesto: Season 2 – The year of change that matters takes us from what was ‘essential’ in 2020, to what really ‘matters’ to us now.
As we move from pandemic to endemic, now is the time to collectively ask: ‘What kind of world of work do we want?’; and to craft a new vision for the decade ahead. In this highly-anticipated follow on, Paul Miller, CEO and Founder of DWG, sets out his thinking on how we can make the most of this opportunity for change, with seven reflections for a workplace that matters.
This second instalment retains the key elements from the first Manifesto:
- Courage – as the central player that can feed us all
- Manifesto – a playbook with guidelines
- Examples – stories that teach us lessons
while also introducing some new ones:
- Hybrid leadership – how leaders could/should evolve in the endemic era
- Stockholm Workplace Syndrome – what happens when we fall in love with our captors?
- What’s on the beach when the waves disappear – what happens when work itself is in the spotlight?
- Rites of passage – why organizations need to acknowledge what has been lost in order to move on creatively.
This is not a decade for the faint of heart; it is proving to be very much the Decade of Courage.

About DWG research
The Digital Workplace Group (DWG) carries out research into best practice in intranet and portal deployment. Covering the hottest topics in the intranet world, the studies we undertake are rooted in practical examples from among DWG member organizations as well as leading non-member companies. The results of this in-depth research act as a basis for decision-making, a source of ideas, and the basis for rich interactions between participants at DWG meetings. Generally, members are given exclusive access to our findings, although we do from time to time make a report available to non-members.
