Investigating the new world of work – DWG announces its 2013 research programme

December 17, 2012

17 December, London and New York.

The Digital Workplace Forum (DWF), a member organization dedicated to exploring and measuring the new world of digital working, is delighted to announce its research programme for 2013.

Fresh from its acclaimed research study into the financial value of investing in the digital workplace, DWF will release a major new study each quarter during 2013. Each research paper will focus in on a key topic, giving DWF members exclusive insight into digital working practices, often in areas which are still emerging or undergoing rapid development.

With the extreme pace of change brought about by developments in the social, mobile and cloud space, as well as the consumerization of IT, DWF’s research focuses on how pioneering organizations are taking the opportunities and overcoming the challenges in this new world of work.

Our strong emphasis on evidence and case study-driven research means each quarter’s study aims to provide a strong foundation for decision making as well as a rich source of inspiration.

The four topics chosen for the 2013 research programme are:

User Experience in the Digital Workplace: an investigation into the often poor and disjointed experience employees face in their own digital environment, and how we can map, measure and improve it.

Setting up a Digital Workplace Programme: guidance on how to take the first steps in getting a formal digital workplace programme off the ground within your organization.

Cross-functional approaches to Digital Working:digital working touches many aspects of working life and we want to see how different functions such as technology, HR, communications and real estate are working together (or not) to get more successful outcomes. We believe the way these functions collaborate is very important.

The Mobile Frontline: delivering an effective digital workplace to non-deskbound employees out in the field, or on the shop or factory floor.

Elizabeth Marsh, Director of Research for DWF, said: “There’s a great deal of excitement here at DWF about our 2013 research programme. It promises to be exceptional, offering ground breaking insights into critical areas of digital workplace practice. It’s all about supporting our members in realizing exceptional digital working practices and approaches that support their strategic goals.”

Nancy Goebel, Managing Director of DWF, said: “In such a rapidly evolving space as the world of digital work, getting the low-down on how other leading-edge companies are delivering successful programmes is critical. The insights gained from DWF’s research programme will be of incredible value to digital strategists and practitioners.”
