Digital Workplace Group announces Nancy Goebel as its next CEO – effective January 2023 – as part of new growth era

January 6, 2022

Digital Workplace Group (DWG) has announced that Nancy Goebel will become CEO from January 1, 2023.

Paul Miller, current CEO and Founder, will step down at the end of 2022 to become DWG’s Founder and Creative Director. Paul will remain close to the organization’s strategic thinking, thought leadership, brand and position in the industry, supporting the management team for a new era of growth.

Other management changes as part of DWG’s succession plan, effective January 1, 2022, are:

  • Nancy Goebel as Deputy CEO
  • Helen Day as Chief Operating Officer
  • Edward Taylor as Chief Growth Officer
  • Daniel McMillan as Chief Financial Officer
  • Kate Algar as Marketing Director
  • Charity Revell as Director of Products and Services.

Paul Miller comments: “Our new leadership team puts in place a clear succession plan and framework to enhance our values, relationships and services. With Nancy at the helm as of 2023, DWG is poised for a period of significant growth as we realize our incredible potential. Collectively, DWG will continue to be a key voice, brand and consulting force in the digital world of work in a living age.”

June 2022 marks DWG’s 20th anniversary: from its first member meeting focusing on intranets, held at the iconic British Library in London in 2002, to becoming a niche global consulting firm and strategic partner covering all aspects of the digital workplace. Throughout that time, the vision has always been to enable its members to share knowledge and metrics in a safe, trusted space.

2022 will also see DWG receive more industry accolades (these announcements are currently under embargo). In addition, the organization is preparing to become employee-owned in 2024, to echo its values and ethos, and will continue to be inspired by the concepts outlined in the book Nature of Work: The new story of work for a living age, co-authored by Paul Miller and DWG’s Knowledge Director, Shimrit Janes.

Nancy Goebel, Deputy CEO, says: “It’s hard to believe that DWG will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022. In line with this key milestone, we will be launching an ambitious multi-year plan that aims to dramatically increase our industry reach and value. We are excited about this next chapter of DWG’s story, which will take us from an entrepreneurial to a growth era.”
