This year’s DWG24 Live (#DWG24) is already shaping up to be the best one yet – and since we’ve been doing them since 2008, we were already really good at it! So, if you haven’t yet registered, here are 12 more compelling reasons why you should.
1. It’s aimed at YOU
A 24-hour festival of digital workplace insights, live tours and expert guidance, DWG24 aims to help our community around the world come together virtually in one place, to learn from each other, connect, and help shape the future of work.
2. It’s online, easy to join and FREE!
Just book your ticket and log in from 12:00 (noon) BST on September 30. It’s that simple. We’ll email you everything you need to know a few days before. You don’t have to stay awake for all of it, just join the sessions that most interest you, take a break whenever you want, and rejoin at any time throughout the 24 hours. You can log in and out as many times as you like.
3. See live into 30 of the world’s best digital workplaces
DWG24 gives you the unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at some of the world’s leading organizations – where else could you see so many digital workplaces in one place?
4. Hear from more than 50 leading experts, minds and leaders
5. Be ready for the Decade of Courage
Earlier this year, DWG launched our Decade of Courage Manifesto, which promotes 12 action points for essential workplace transformation. Each hour of DWG24 Live will cover one of the 12 points, inspiring and enabling new ways of thinking unleashed and empowered by the COVID-19 crisis. Make the most of the Decade of Courage.
6. Join the Work Miles Movement
DWG24 Live will also see the official launch of the DWG Work Miles Movement – the initiative that is going nowhere! There has already been a positive impact on the climate through reduced levels of work travel including commuting in 2020, and this initiative aims to ensure that 2020 is not just a blip but a sustained pattern for this decade and beyond. You will already be contributing by not travelling to DWG24, so why not commit a bit more?
7. Find out who won the Digital Workplace of the Year Awards
This year we’ve gone virtual, with no place for an in-person awards ceremony that we all have to fly to (see point number 6!). The winners will be announced live on DWG24 – and you may even get a live tour of the winning entry as well as an interview with the Digital Workplace Leader of the Year. See the shortlist here.
8. Take part in My Beautiful Digital Workplace competition
You could win a 1:1 two-hour mentoring session with one of our digital workplace experts, PLUS a signed copy of Paul Miller and Shimrit Janes’ new book “Nature of Work” when it comes out next year.
All you have to do is send us a screenshot of your intranet and any other aspects of your beautiful digital workplace, as well as your physical workspace – we are looking to celebrate all of these elements! We will be sharing the images on social media throughout DWG24 Live (#mybeautifuldigitalworkplace). To enter, simply email your images to: firstname.lastname@example.org
– The closing date to submit your entry is Friday, September 18, 10pm BST.
– By submitting your entry you agree to DWG sharing your images on social media.
– The winner will be selected by DWG and announced during DWG24 Live.
– As images will be shared publicly, please do not include anything sensitive, confidential or that displays individual names. Please blur out anything sensitive and ensure you have appropriate sign-off to share.
9. Join the Wide Awake Club and stay up to watch all 24 hours
DW24 is more than an event – it’s an experience. In past years, attendees from around the world called in, joined the online Twitter (#DWG24) discussions and stayed closely connected to the global community of intranet and digital workplace pros.
24 hours is a long time. If you can’t stay awake for all of it, just join the sessions that most interest you, take a break whenever you want, and rejoin at any time throughout the 24 hours. You can log in and out as many times as you like.
If you are as obsessed with intranets and the digital workplace as we are, then consider joining the Wide Awake Club for DW24. This esteemed group of caffeine-fueled friends of DWG commit to staying up and logged in for all 24 hours of DW24. Or at least they’ll try to.
10. Enjoy the playlist between each session
Relax between sessions by listening to our handpicked playlist that will set you up for the next hour of amazing content. One of the things our Founder and CEO, Paul Miller, really enjoys doing each year is picking tracks for the playlist. He does so with much thought and consideration, and there are always a couple of “wild cards” in there to surprise us – so do listen out for those!
11. Arrange a virtual viewing party and watch with colleagues
What makes any experience better? Enjoying it with the right people! Rather than join alone, why not arrange for other people in your organization to join too and set up a channel to chat about the content together via WhatsApp, Teams, Skype, Slack – whatever your chat of choice is. This way, your whole team can get intranet inspired.
12. Become a Tweeter in Residence
If you’d like to join the fun on Twitter and help share #DWG24 far and wide, consider becoming a “Tweeter in Residence” for the event – tweet and blog about #DWG24 before and after the event, and let @DWG know so we can RT.
